Drug & supplement interaction

Gluten-free Diet + Duvelisib

Duvelisib brand name: Copiktra.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Gluten-free Diet and Duvelisib in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Gluten-free Diet and Duvelisib

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Duvelisib and Gluten-free Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Gluten-free Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Gluten-free Diet at all — not against Duvelisib, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Gluten-free Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Gluten-free Diet safety at a glance

Gluten-free Diet overall Use caution Generally safe for those who need it, but can lower fiber and certain nutrients if not well planned.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Gluten-free Diet and Duvelisib May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so following Gluten-free Diet while taking the medicine can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. One of them is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Anemia Worth acting on Additional detail

    Gluten-free Diet

“Some research reports iron deficiency (anemia), malnutrition, anxiety and depression in people using the gluten free diet; however causality of these symptoms is unclear.”

    Duvelisib

Listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Duvelisib. Read the label on DailyMed ›

Reported for Gluten-free Diet but not commonly for Duvelisib: low mood and anxiety or restlessness.

Effects for Duvelisib come from the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of its FDA label; effects for Gluten-free Diet come from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record, quoted above. Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 765 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Duvelisib that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Wording is matched across sources by our own clinical vocabulary, so treat this as a prompt to pay attention, not a diagnosis.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Duvelisib page

“Duvelisib (Copiktra) treats certain blood cancers, and its supplement list deserves genuine care because the body clears it through a single enzyme, CYP3A4. Most of the 143 ingredients either block or speed up that enzyme, which can push duvelisib levels high enough to worsen side effects or low enough to weaken its grip on the cancer.”

About Gluten-free Diet

What is Gluten-free Diet?

  • Celiac disease
  • Non-celiac gluten sensitivity
  • Wheat allergy
  • Dermatitis herpetiformis
  • Digestive symptoms like bloating or diarrhea

A gluten-free diet removes wheat, barley, rye, and related grains. It is the proven, necessary treatment for celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis, and it helps some people with wheat allergy or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. For people without these conditions, there is no strong evidence that going gluten-free improves health, so talk with your doctor before making big diet changes.

Whole-food eating pattern; gluten-free packaged foods, flours, and breads

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Gluten-free Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Gluten-free Diet record says about it on its own.

Gluten-free Diet: dosing

A gluten-free diet is not a pill, so there is no "dose." Instead, the goal for people who need it is to completely avoid gluten from wheat, barley, rye, and related grains, including hidden sources in sauces, processed foods, and even some medicines and supplements.Look for products labeled certified gluten-free, and read ingredient lists carefully. Working with a registered dietitian is the best way to follow the diet correctly while keeping your nutrition balanced.
