Greater Celandine + Alemtuzumab
Alemtuzumab brand name: Campath.
Greater Celandine has a moderate interaction with Alemtuzumab. Preliminary clinical research suggests that taking a specific semi-synthetic derivative of the greater celandine constituent chelidonine (Ukrain; not available in North America) might stimulate immune responses in cancer patients.

IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Alemtuzumab
Alemtuzumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Greater Celandine interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for alemtuzumab (Campath): this medicine works by harnessing your immune system to attack cancer cells, and it also suppresses parts of your immune system along the way. The theory on file is that greater celandine might do the opposite, nudging certain immune responses to ramp up. If that happened, it could in theory work against what your treatment is trying to accomplish.
I want to be honest that this is a very theoretical concern, based on a celandine-derived product (Ukrain) not even sold here, not on direct studies with alemtuzumab. The bigger worry, frankly, is that greater celandine has been tied to serious liver injury. I'd skip it during cancer treatment and run any supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

“Alemtuzumab (Campath) works by knocking down part of the immune system, which is how it treats multiple sclerosis and certain leukemias. That mechanism makes this a list to approach with real seriousness, because most of it, 53 ingredients including ashwagandha and astragalus, may stimulate immune activity, and anything that revs the i…”

About Greater Celandine
What is Greater Celandine?
- Digestive and gallbladder complaints
- Stomach cramps and bloating
- Topical use for warts and skin growths
- Liver and gallbladder 'cleansing'
- Mild pain relief
Greater celandine is a traditional herb most often promoted for digestive and gallbladder complaints, but solid human evidence for any use is lacking. More importantly, it has been linked to serious and sometimes severe liver injury, so most experts advise against taking it by mouth. If you are considering it, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Brand name: Campath
Alemtuzumab (brand name Lemtrada) is approved for adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) — including relapsing-remitting MS and active secondary progressive MS. Because it carries serious risks, it is generally reserved for people who have already tried at least two other MS medications without adequate results.
It is not recommended for people with clinically isolated syndrome (CIS), a first episode of MS-like symptoms, due to its risk profile.
