Here's the thinking behind this pairing. Alemtuzumab (Campath) works in two ways for leukemia: it directs the immune system to clear out cancer cells, and it also wipes out a lot of your immune cells along the way, which leaves you more open to infection. Andrographis, on the other hand, has shown immune-stimulating activity in lab and animal studies, so the concern is that it could push your immune system in the opposite direction of what the treatment is doing and theoretically blunt the benefit.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's based only on test-tube and animal data, not on people, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Since alemtuzumab is a serious cancer therapy, please don't add andrographis without first running it by your oncologist or pharmacist.

What Is Alemtuzumab Injection (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) Used For?

Brand name: Campath

Alemtuzumab (brand name Lemtrada) is approved for adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) — including relapsing-remitting MS and active secondary progressive MS. Because it carries serious risks, it is generally reserved for people who have already tried at least two other MS medications without adequate results.

It is not recommended for people with clinically isolated syndrome (CIS), a first episode of MS-like symptoms, due to its risk profile.
