Here's the basic idea with this pairing: Verapamil already lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate, and animal studies hint that andrographis may nudge blood pressure down too. Put them together and, in theory, your pressure could drop a bit more than expected. That might show up as feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or a little woozy when you stand up quickly.

I want to be straight with you though: this concern comes only from lab and animal research, not human studies, so it's a soft, theoretical worry rather than a proven problem. Verapamil isn't activated by anything in andrographis, so the direction is simply additive blood pressure lowering. Still, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and let them know if you notice new dizziness.

About Verapamil

What Is Verapamil Used For?

Brand names: Isoptin SR, Verelan, Isoptin, Calan SR, Verelan SR, Calan, Covera HS, Verap, Veramil

Verapamil tablets and film-coated tablets are used to treat angina — including vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina, unstable angina, and chronic stable angina — as well as certain abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and high blood pressure (essential hypertension). For arrhythmias, regular-release tablets are used alongside digoxin to control heart rate in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation, and to help prevent episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a type of rapid heartbeat.

Extended-release and sustained-release oral forms (tablets and capsules) are indicated specifically for high blood pressure. Verapamil hydrochloride injection is used in hospital settings for rapid conversion of SVT to normal rhythm and for temporary control of fast heart rates in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation.
