Here's the idea behind this pairing. Prednisolone is a corticosteroid that calms down an overactive immune system, which is why it helps with things like arthritis flares, allergic reactions, asthma, and preventing transplant rejection. Andrographis, on the other hand, may do the opposite and gently rev up immune activity. So in theory, the herb could push against what your prednisolone is trying to accomplish, possibly making it work less well for whatever condition you're treating.

I want to be honest about the strength of this concern, though. It comes only from lab and animal research, not from real people, so it's quite theoretical. I'd be most cautious if you're on prednisolone for transplant rejection or a serious autoimmune problem, where you don't want any loss of control. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than changing anything on your own.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
