Andrographis + Avatrombopag Maleate
Avatrombopag Maleate brand name: Doptelet.
We found no known interaction between Andrographis and Avatrombopag Maleate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the label for Avatrombopag Maleate states a food rule worth keeping to, and the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Andrographis and Avatrombopag Maleate
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Avatrombopag Maleate and Andrographis in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Avatrombopag Maleate
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Avatrombopag Maleate is filed under 2 classifications — p-glycoprotein substrates, oral drugs. Andrographis has documented interactions with 6 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate), antihypertensive drugs (moderate) and immunosuppressants (moderate) — and none of Avatrombopag Maleate’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Andrographis Does Interact With Other Medications
Andrographis has 408 moderate, 5 minor known drug interactions in our database — Avatrombopag Maleate isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

Some Avatrombopag Maleate Products Have a Food Rule — Andrographis Should Not Break It
At least one FDA label for a product containing Avatrombopag Maleate says to take it with food. If you take Andrographis on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Avatrombopag Maleate with a meal where the label says to.
This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Avatrombopag Maleate products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.
Administer DOPTELET tablets and DOPTELET SPRINKLE with food.
From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Avatrombopag Maleate — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. Read the label on DailyMed ›
A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Avatrombopag Maleate
This page covers Andrographis only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Avatrombopag Maleate page lists 54 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), St. John's Wort (major), Bitter Melon (moderate), Black Pepper (moderate) and Bulbine Natalensis (moderate).
By severity: 2 major · 35 moderate · 17 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Avatrombopag Maleate page
“Avatrombopag maleate (Doptelet) exists to raise a low platelet count, so anything that drags its blood level down invites the bleeding risk it was prescribed to prevent. I would handle this list of 54 supplements with real care, and the two rated major come first.”

About Andrographis
What is Andrographis?
- Common cold and flu symptoms
- Upper respiratory infections
- Sore throat
- Fever
- Immune support
- Digestive complaints
Andrographis is a bitter Asian herb traditionally used for colds, flu, and infections, and some studies suggest it may ease cold symptoms and shorten how long they last. The evidence is limited and the quality of studies varies, so it should not replace standard care. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy.
Andrographis paniculata · Acanthaceae · Leaves and above-ground (aerial) parts · Capsules, tablets, tinctures, teas, and standardized extracts
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Andrographis is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Andrographis record says about it on its own.
Andrographis: dosing
There is no single official or standardized dose of Andrographis. Products differ in how they are made and in how much andrographolide they contain, which makes general dosing recommendations difficult. Many cold-related products are standardized to a specific amount of andrographolide and are usually taken for a short period at the start of symptoms.

About Avatrombopag
What Is Avatrombopag Used For?
Brand name: Doptelet
Avatrombopag treats thrombocytopenia (a low platelet count that raises bleeding risk) in three groups of patients. Doptelet tablets are used in adults with chronic liver disease who need their platelet count raised before a medical procedure, and in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) whose platelet count has not responded well enough to earlier treatments. Doptelet tablets are also used in children aged 6 years and older with persistent or chronic ITP who have not responded to prior treatment.
Doptelet Sprinkle (oral granules) is specifically indicated for children aged 1 year to less than 6 years with persistent or chronic ITP who have not responded adequately to a previous treatment.
