Ixekizumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Greater Celandine interacts with.

Preliminary clinical research suggests that taking a specific semi-synthetic derivative of the greater celandine constituent chelidonine (Ukrain; not available in North America) might stimulate immune responses in cancer patients. Theoretically, taking greater celandine might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the gist with Taltz (ixekizumab): it's a biologic that calms down your overactive immune system to clear psoriasis or quiet inflamed joints. The concern with greater celandine is that some of its compounds may do the opposite and rev the immune system up a bit. In theory, that could push against what Taltz is trying to do, so your skin patches or joint symptoms might not stay as well controlled.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's a theoretical worry based on the herb's biology, not solid proof in people on Taltz. The bigger issue is that greater celandine itself has been tied to serious liver injury, so most experts steer people away from it. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Ixekizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Taltz

Taltz (ixekizumab) is used to treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in patients 6 years of age and older who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy. In adults, Taltz is also approved for active psoriatic arthritis, active ankylosing spondylitis, and active non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (a form of spinal inflammatory arthritis that doesn't show clear damage on X-rays but has objective signs of inflammation).

For psoriatic arthritis patients who also have moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, Taltz follows the dosing schedule for adult plaque psoriasis and may be used alone or alongside a conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (cDMARD), such as methotrexate.
