Sarilumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Greater Celandine interacts with.

Preliminary clinical research suggests that taking a specific semi-synthetic derivative of the greater celandine constituent chelidonine (Ukrain; not available in North America) might stimulate immune responses in cancer patients. Theoretically, taking greater celandine might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the thinking on combining greater celandine with Kevzara (sarilumab). Sarilumab works by calming down an overactive immune system to ease rheumatoid arthritis pain, swelling, and joint damage. The concern is that greater celandine might nudge the immune system in the opposite direction. In theory, that could work against your medication and let your RA symptoms creep back, things like stiffness, sore joints, and flares you thought were under control.

I want to be straight with you: this is a theoretical worry based on how these compounds behave, not on strong human studies with sarilumab. But there's a bigger reason to be cautious. Greater celandine has been tied to serious liver injury on its own. I'd skip it and check with your doctor or pharmacist before trying any new supplement with Kevzara.

About Sarilumab Injection

What Is Sarilumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Kevzara

Kevzara (sarilumab) injection is approved for three conditions. In adults, it treats moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) when at least one other disease-modifying drug hasn't worked well enough or caused intolerance. It also treats polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) in adults who haven't responded adequately to corticosteroids or who can't tolerate tapering them.

Kevzara is also approved for polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) — a form of childhood arthritis — but only in patients who weigh 63 kg (about 139 lbs) or more. It is not approved for pediatric patients below that weight due to the lack of an appropriate dosage form.
