Here's the simple version: guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and that gel can grab onto medicines in your gut and slow down how much gets absorbed. With Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone), the concern is that less of your dose makes it into your system, which could mean weaker relief and a chance of feeling withdrawal symptoms like cravings, restlessness, or aches.

The good news is this is easy to manage. Most Suboxone is taken as a film or tablet that dissolves under the tongue, so it bypasses the gut anyway. If you take any oral fiber, just space it out, take your Suboxone first and wait 30 to 60 minutes before the guar gum. Food amounts of guar gum are unlikely to matter. Check with your pharmacist before adding a fiber supplement.
