Here's the simple version: guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and when you take it at the same time as your Auvelity (the bupropion and dextromethorphan combo), that gel can trap part of the dose in your gut. The concern isn't that it changes how your body breaks the medicine down. It's that a bit less may get absorbed, so the medicine could work a little less well.

With an antidepressant like this, weaker absorption could mean your mood symptoms aren't as well controlled. The fix is usually about timing, not stopping anything. A common suggestion is to take guar gum about 30 to 60 minutes after your Auvelity. Run the exact timing by your pharmacist or doctor first.
