Here's the thing to keep in mind: guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and when you swallow it, it can grab onto other things in your stomach and gut. That gel may slow down or reduce how much of your Viberzi (eluxadoline) actually gets absorbed. Eluxadoline works right in the gut to calm bowel activity and ease IBS-D diarrhea and cramping, so soaking it up in fiber gel could blunt how well it works.

This isn't a dangerous reaction, just a timing issue. The simple fix is to space them out. Take your eluxadoline first, then wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before your guar gum. If you notice your IBS symptoms creeping back, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
