Here's the simple version: guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber. When you take it at the same time as your fenoprofen (Nalfon), that gel can trap some of the medicine in your gut and slow down or lower how much actually gets absorbed. Fenoprofen works as-is (it's not a prodrug that needs activating), so less absorption could mean weaker pain relief for your arthritis or aches.

The good news is this is easy to manage. Studies behind this are modest, and the fix is mostly about timing. Try taking your fenoprofen first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your guar gum, with plenty of water. If your pain isn't controlled like usual, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
