This combo pill (Meprozine or Mepergan) pairs meperidine, a painkiller, with promethazine, which helps with nausea and adds some sedation. Neither is a prodrug, so the concern here is simpler: guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and when you swallow it close to your medicine, that gel can trap part of the dose in your gut and slow how much gets absorbed. The likely result is that your pill works a little less well, so you might notice weaker pain relief or less nausea control.

This is a moderate, possible interaction based on limited human data. An easy fix is timing. Taking guar gum about 30 to 60 minutes after this medicine usually keeps them apart. Please run the schedule by your pharmacist or doctor first.
