Korean Pine and Ondansetron

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Ondansetron and Korean Pine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Korean Pine safety at a glance

Korean Pine overall Use caution The nuts and oil are generally safe as food, but concentrated supplements are less studied.
Pregnancy Use caution Pine nuts as food are fine, but concentrated extracts have not been well studied, so avoid these.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Ondansetron

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Ondansetron is filed under 7 classifications — including serotonergic drugs, serotonergic drugs, cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates. Korean Pine has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antihypertensive drugs (moderate) — and none of Ondansetron’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

What Ondansetron’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Korean Pine. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Ondansetron’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 4 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • A heart attack Worth acting on
  • An irregular heartbeat Worth acting on
  • Chest pain Worth acting on
  • Raised blood pressure Worth acting on
  • Migraine
  • A fast or pounding heartbeat
  • Numbness or tingling

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Ondansetron. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 121,840 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Ondansetron that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Korean Pine’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Korean Pine side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Korean Pine has no side effects.

About Korean Pine

What is Korean Pine?

  • Appetite control and weight management
  • Heart and cholesterol health
  • General nutrition and energy
  • Skin and antioxidant support
  • Cough and respiratory comfort (traditional)

Korean Pine is best known as the source of edible pine nuts and pine nut oil, which are nutritious foods rich in healthy fats. While some early research looks at pine nut oil for appetite and cholesterol, strong human evidence for any specific health benefit is limited. Treat it mainly as a food, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated extracts.

Pinus koraiensis · Pinaceae · Seeds (pine nuts), seed oil, nuts, bark, and needles · Pine nuts (food), pine nut oil (capsules or liquid), needle tea, extracts

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Korean Pine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Korean Pine record says about it on its own.

Korean Pine: dosing

There is no established standard medicinal dose for Korean Pine or pine nut oil. As a food, pine nuts are simply eaten in normal amounts as part of meals. For pine nut oil capsules or extracts, follow the directions on the product label, since strength varies between products.
