Quinapril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group L-citrulline interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of L-citrulline with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the chance of hypotension.
L-citrulline is converted to L-arginine, which can increase nitric oxide and cause vasodilation. However, a meta-analysis of 5 small clinical studies suggests that taking L-citrulline 3-6 grams daily for 1-8 weeks does not lower blood pressure when compared with control.

Here's the simple version: Quinapril lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. L-citrulline, by way of more nitric oxide, can gently nudge blood vessels open too. Stack the two and you could, in theory, get a little extra blood pressure lowering. If that happens, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially when you stand up quickly, or notice more fatigue.

That said, the evidence here is pretty thin. A review of several small studies found L-citrulline didn't actually move blood pressure much on its own, so for most people this overlap stays minor. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, particularly if your pressure already runs low or you take other blood pressure meds. Don't change your Quinapril on your own.

What Is Quinapril Used For?

Brand names: Accupril, Accupro

Quinapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Quinapril may be used alone or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when one medication isn't enough.

Quinapril tablets are also used in the management of heart failure as an add-on therapy alongside other standard treatments such as diuretics and/or digitalis.
