ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Clinafloxacin
Clinafloxacin falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Lacticaseibacillus Casei interacts with.
L. casei preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. casei preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Clinafloxacin is an antibiotic, and antibiotics don't pick favorites. They kill harmful bacteria, but they can also kill the friendly bacteria in a probiotic like Lacticaseibacillus casei. So if you swallow both at the same time, the antibiotic may wipe out a good chunk of the live cultures before they ever get a chance to help your gut. This works against the probiotic, not the antibiotic. Your Clinafloxacin will still fight infection just fine.
The easy fix is timing. Space the probiotic and the antibiotic at least two hours apart. This is based on how these products work rather than hard studies, so it's a sensible precaution. As always, check with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clinafloxacin page
“If you have been prescribed clinafloxacin, a quinolone antibiotic, start with the four interactions rated major, because they all do the same thing: apple, grapefruit, and orange juice, along with activated charcoal, can sharply cut how much of the drug you absorb, and an antibiotic that never reaches your bloodstream cannot clear the…”
