Darunavir, Cobicistat falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lemongrass interacts with.

Theoretically, lemongrass might decrease the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal research shows that lemongrass and its constituent citral inhibit CYP3A4.

Here's the gist with Prezcobix (darunavir plus cobicistat). Your body clears darunavir partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab and animal studies hint that lemongrass, and its lemony compound citral, may slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in people, darunavir could build up a bit more than expected, which might mean more of its usual side effects like nausea, diarrhea, headache, or rash.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal work, not real human studies. The cooking and tea amounts of lemongrass are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements or essential oil are where I'd be more cautious. Don't change anything on your own. Just run it by your pharmacist or HIV doctor first.

What Is Darunavir and Cobicistat Used For?

Brand name: Prezcobix

Prezcobix and Prezcobix Ped are used to treat HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus type 1) infection. They are always used together with other antiretroviral (anti-HIV) medicines — never alone. Both products are approved for people who are new to HIV treatment (treatment-naïve) and for those who have taken HIV medicines before (treatment-experienced), as long as certain darunavir resistance mutations are not present.

Prezcobix tablets are approved for adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 40 kg. Prezcobix Ped tablets for oral suspension extend coverage to pediatric patients 3 years of age and older weighing at least 15 kg.
