Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Gilteritinib Fumarate
Gilteritinib Fumarate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lemongrass interacts with.
Animal research shows that lemongrass and its constituent citral inhibit CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Xospata (gilteritinib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break this leukemia medicine down. Lab and animal studies suggest that lemongrass (and its lemony compound citral) may slow that same enzyme. If it did the same in people, gilteritinib could clear out a little more slowly and build up, which might increase side effects like fatigue, muscle or joint aches, swelling, nausea, mouth sores, or changes in your heart rhythm (QT prolongation).
The important caveat: this is only seen in test tubes and animals, not in actual patients, so it stays theoretical. The lemongrass used to season food or in a cup of tea is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements or the essential oil are the bigger question. Since gilteritinib is a serious cancer drug, please run any lemongrass supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

“Anyone taking gilteritinib fumarate (Xospata) is treating FLT3-mutated acute myeloid leukemia, and that alone makes this list one to approach with real vigilance.
