Macrobiotic Diet + Digoxin
Digoxin brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek.
We found no known interaction between Macrobiotic Diet and Digoxin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Macrobiotic Diet and Digoxin
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Digoxin and Macrobiotic Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Macrobiotic Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Macrobiotic Diet at all — not against Digoxin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
Macrobiotic Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Questions About Macrobiotic Diet or Digoxin
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Macrobiotic Diet or Digoxin, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Digoxin
This page covers Macrobiotic Diet only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Digoxin page lists 113 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Aloe (major), Blue Flag (major), Danshen (major) and European Buckthorn (major).
By severity: 18 major · 79 moderate · 16 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Digoxin page
“Digoxin is a heart medicine with a narrow therapeutic index, meaning the gap between a helpful blood level and a harmful one is small, and few drugs give me more pause when supplements enter the picture. The most serious entries here are herbs that themselves contain digoxin-like cardiac glycosides, foxglove and lily-of-the-valley amon…”

Where Macrobiotic Diet and Digoxin Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.
#1,026 of 1,452 supplements looked up here in the last 7 days
#459 of 2,830 medications looked up here in the last 7 days
Position among everything looked up on this site, not a measure of how commonly either one is used or how important it is. A supplement can climb this list because of a news story. It counts every request to the page, automated ones included, and nothing here identifies anyone.
Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Macrobiotic Diet reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified October 4, 2026. The Macrobiotic Diet and Digoxin records this page draws on were last updated July 10, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Macrobiotic Diet
What is Macrobiotic Diet?
- General wellness and longevity
- Cancer prevention and support (popular belief)
- Heart health
- Weight management
- Digestive health
The macrobiotic diet is a plant-based eating pattern centered on whole grains, vegetables, and beans, with limited animal products and processed foods. Some versions can be healthy, but strict versions risk nutrient shortfalls, and there is no strong proof it treats or cures diseases like cancer. Talk to your doctor or a dietitian before starting, especially if you have a health condition.
Whole-food eating plan based on whole grains, vegetables, and legumes
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Macrobiotic Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Macrobiotic Diet record says about it on its own.
Macrobiotic Diet: dosing
There is no standard dose for a diet. Instead, macrobiotic eating is about food choices and proportions, often with grains making up a large share of meals and vegetables and beans filling the rest.If you want to try this way of eating, choose a balanced version, include a variety of foods, and avoid the most restrictive forms. Many people on plant-based diets need a vitamin B12 supplement, and possibly vitamin D, calcium, iron, or omega-3s. A registered dietitian can help you plan meals and decide which supplements you may need.

About Digoxin
What Is Digoxin Used For?
Brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek
Digoxin treats mild to moderate heart failure in adults. It improves heart failure symptoms and exercise capacity, and it reduces heart failure-related hospitalizations and emergency care. It does not change survival.
It also helps control the resting heart rate in adults with chronic atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). In children with heart failure, the tablet, oral solution and most injection products are used to increase the heart’s pumping strength (myocardial contractility). Some older injection labels list only the adult uses. Digoxin Oral Solution should not be used for multifocal atrial tachycardia.

Digoxin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Digoxin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Macrobiotic Diet — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
