Here's the short version: amlodipine (Istin) is a calcium channel blocker that lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. The concern on file is that malic acid might nudge your blood pressure down a little too, so stacking the two could theoretically add up and leave your pressure lower than intended.

I'll be honest with you though, this is a very weak, theoretical idea. It comes from animal research using malic acid pulled from a plant root, not from people taking supplements. The amounts in apples or food won't matter. If you do take concentrated malic acid (often paired with magnesium), just keep an eye out for dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when you stand up, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
