Animal research suggests that high doses of Manchurian thorn can induce liver damage. Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.

Here's the thing about Aprocitentan (Tryvio): it's already known to be tough on the liver. In fact, before you start it, your doctor checks your liver enzymes, and you're supposed to keep monitoring them. So the concern with Manchurian Thorn isn't about one blocking or speeding up the other. It's simpler than that. Both can potentially stress the liver, and stacking two liver stressors together may add up.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical worry. It comes from animal studies where high doses of Manchurian Thorn caused liver trouble, not from human data with this exact combo. Still, since Aprocitentan already carries a real liver caution, I'd play it safe. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Aprocitentan

What Is Aprocitentan Used For?

Brand name: Tryvio

Tryvio is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who are already taking other blood pressure medications but still don't have their blood pressure under control. It is always used in combination with other antihypertensive (blood pressure-lowering) drugs — not on its own.

Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. Tryvio has not been shown in controlled trials to directly reduce those events itself, but blood pressure control overall does.
