Animal research suggests that high doses of Manchurian thorn can induce liver damage. Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.

Here's the key thing with Tramacet (the tramadol plus acetaminophen combo): the acetaminophen half is well known for being hard on the liver, especially at higher doses or with daily use. Manchurian Thorn, in animal studies done at high doses, has shown signs of liver stress. So the worry here isn't that one changes the other's effect, it's that stacking two things that can each tax the liver might add up.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical, based on lab and animal work, not real patient reports, so don't panic. Still, it's worth watching for warning signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, nausea, or pain in the upper right belly. Before combining these, check in with your pharmacist or doctor, and never exceed the acetaminophen dose on the label.
