Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Cablivi
Cablivi falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Maritime Pine interacts with.
Clinical research suggests that maritime pine bark extract inhibits platelet aggregation. However, the clinical significance of this effect is unclear.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: Cablivi (caplacizumab) already raises your bleeding risk on its own because it blocks part of how your platelets stick together to form clots. Maritime pine bark (Pycnogenol) seems to do a milder version of the same thing in lab studies, gently making platelets less sticky. Stack the two and you could, in theory, see more bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or harder-to-stop bleeding from cuts.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's a theoretical concern based on how these compounds work, not from real-world reports of the combo. Still, Cablivi is a serious medicine for a serious condition, so please loop in your hematologist or pharmacist before adding any pine bark supplement. Don't change anything on your own.
