Maritime Pine + Prednisolone
Prednisolone brand names: Prednisolone, Sterane, Delta Cortef, Cortalone, Pred Forte, and others.
Maritime Pine has a moderate interaction with Prednisolone. Theoretically, maritime pine bark extract might decrease the effectiveness of immunosuppressant therapy.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Prednisolone
Prednisolone falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Maritime Pine interacts with.
In vitro and animal research suggests that maritime pine bark extract has immunostimulant activity. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea behind this pairing. Prednisolone is a steroid that works partly by calming down an overactive immune system, which is exactly what you want when treating conditions like arthritis, asthma flares, or protecting a transplanted organ. Maritime pine bark, on the other hand, has shown immune-stimulating activity in lab dishes and animals. In theory, those two could work against each other, meaning the pine bark might slightly nudge your immune system back up and make the prednisolone less effective.
I want to be honest, though: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never in people, so it's quite theoretical. Still, if you're on prednisolone for something serious, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding pine bark. Don't change your steroid dose on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Prednisolone page
“Prednisolone quiets inflammation and dampens the immune system, and its list of 202 interacting supplement and herbal ingredients, four of them rated major, deserves a careful read rather than a shrug. Grapefruit can push prednisolone levels up by blocking its breakdown, St.”

Maritime pine bark extract (often sold as Pycnogenol) is a plant-based antioxidant most studied for circulation, vein, and skin health. About Prednisolone
What Is Prednisolone Used For?
Brand names: Prednisolone, Sterane, Delta Cortef, Cortalone, Pred Forte, Solupred
Oral prednisolone (tablets, oral solutions, syrup and orally disintegrating tablets) is used to control inflammation or an overactive immune system.
