In vitro and animal research suggests that maritime pine bark extract has immunostimulant activity. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the idea behind this one. Vumerity (diroximel fumarate) works by calming down an overactive immune system to ease MS flare-ups. Maritime pine bark, on the other hand, has shown signs in lab and animal studies of nudging the immune system to be more active. In theory, those two could pull in opposite directions, which might make your MS medication work a little less well.

I want to be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern only. It has not actually been seen in people taking these together, so the real-world risk looks low. Still, since this medication is doing important work to protect your nerves, it's worth a quick chat with your neurologist or pharmacist before adding pine bark, just to be safe.
