Here's the gist with Liptruzet (the ezetimibe and atorvastatin combo) and marshmallow root. Marshmallow is loaded with mucilage, a slippery gel-forming fiber. The thinking is that if you swallow them at the same time, that gel could coat your stomach and gut and grab onto a little of your medicine, so slightly less gets absorbed. In theory that could mean your cholesterol pill works a touch less well.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how mucilage behaves, not real-world reports of failed cholesterol control. An easy fix is spacing them out, taking marshmallow about 30 to 60 minutes after your Liptruzet. If you have questions, your pharmacist can help you set up the timing.
