Here's some good news on this one. The malathion you're asking about (brand name Ovide) is a lotion you apply to your scalp to kill head lice, not a pill you swallow. The interaction in our database is only about marshmallow's slippery mucilage possibly slowing down how oral medicines get absorbed in your gut. Since you rub malathion onto your hair and skin, marshmallow taken by mouth really shouldn't touch how well it works.

On top of that, this concern is purely theoretical, based on how the fiber behaves, not on real cases. So you can feel comfortable using your lice treatment as directed. If you ever switch to a swallowed medication, just space marshmallow 30 to 60 minutes apart, and check with your pharmacist if you're unsure.
