Temazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Nutmeg interacts with.

Theoretically, nutmeg might increase the risk of additive sedation when taken with CNS depressants.
Animal studies suggest that nutmeg extracts and several volatile oils in nutmeg, such as methyleugenol, isoeugenol, safrole, myristicin, trimyristin, 1,8-cineole, and geranyl acetate, have sedative effects. One animal study shows that petroleum ether extracts of nutmeg can potentiate the effects of pentobarbital or phenobarbital. However, evidence from other animal research suggests that the nutmeg constituent myristicin can actually reduce sleeping time in rats pretreated with phenobarbital.

Temazepam already does a good job of slowing down your brain to help you sleep, and that's exactly the point of taking it for insomnia. The concern here is simple: some compounds in nutmeg have shown calming, sedative effects in animal studies, so in theory they could pile on top of what your sleep medicine is already doing. That might leave you feeling extra drowsy, groggy the next morning, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's based on lab and animal research, not solid human studies, and a little nutmeg sprinkled in your eggnog or oatmeal is very unlikely to cause a problem. Large 'medicinal' doses of nutmeg are a different story and can be toxic on their own. If you're considering nutmeg in any concentrated form, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

This medication is intended for short periods only. If sleep trouble doesn't improve within 7 to 10 days, that may signal an underlying medical or psychiatric condition that needs its own evaluation.
