Here's the idea behind this one. Trospium calms an overactive bladder by blocking a chemical messenger called acetylcholine on the bladder muscle. Animal studies suggest nutmeg may do the opposite by raising acetylcholine levels. So in theory, large amounts of nutmeg could push against what trospium is trying to do and make it work a little less well, meaning your urinary urgency or frequency might not be as controlled.

I want to be honest though: this is based only on lab and animal data, not real human studies, so it's quite theoretical. A sprinkle of nutmeg in your food is very unlikely to matter. The real concern is concentrated, high-dose nutmeg, which can be toxic anyway. If you're thinking about nutmeg supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Trospium — available as tablets and extended-release capsules — is used to treat overactive bladder (OAB). It targets three main symptoms: the sudden, hard-to-control urge to urinate (urgency), leaking urine when that urge hits (urge urinary incontinence), and needing to urinate much more often than usual (urinary frequency).
