Here's the simple version: olive oil and captopril both gently nudge your blood pressure in the same direction, down. Captopril already relaxes your blood vessels, and a diet rich in olive oil (especially when it replaces butter and other saturated fats) has been linked in some studies with slightly lower blood pressure too. So the two can add up.

For most people this is a mild, even helpful effect, not a danger. But if your numbers run low, you might feel a bit dizzy, lightheaded, or tired, especially when standing up quickly. The evidence here is modest, and normal cooking amounts of olive oil are unlikely to cause trouble. If you're thinking about concentrated olive oil supplements, or you notice low readings, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Captopril

What Is Captopril Used For?

Brand names: Capoten, Acepril

Captopril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and left ventricular dysfunction (weakened pumping function of the heart) in stable patients after a heart attack. For the heart attack indication, it helps improve survival and reduces the chance of developing full heart failure.

Captopril tablets are also used to slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy (kidney damage caused by diabetes) in people with type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes who have retinopathy and significant protein in their urine. It reduces the risk of the kidneys failing to the point of needing dialysis or a transplant.
