Here's the gist with this cough and cold combo and onion. The idea on file is that onion may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2E1. If a medicine leans on that pathway to be cleared, it could hang around a bit longer and feel a touch stronger. For this product, that mainly points to the dextromethorphan and chlorpheniramine parts, so in theory you might notice more drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, or a foggy, sedated feeling.

But I want to be honest about how shaky this is. The signal comes from animal work using concentrated onion powder, and it has never actually been reported in people. Onion in your food is not something to worry about. If you're considering high-dose onion supplements alongside this medicine, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
