Onion + Minocycline
Minocycline brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, and others.
Onion has a moderate interaction with Minocycline. Theoretically, concomitant use of anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs with onion might increase the risk of bleeding.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Minocycline
Minocycline falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Onion interacts with.
In vitro research shows that onion inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture: this bleeding caution was written for blood thinners and antiplatelet medicines, and minocycline isn't really one of those. Minocycline is an antibiotic from the tetracycline family, used for things like acne and various infections. So the platelet idea from the database doesn't map cleanly onto how minocycline works.
The onion concern itself is also theoretical, coming only from lab dish studies suggesting onion might slightly reduce platelet clumping. Eating onion in normal food amounts is very unlikely to cause any trouble with your minocycline. If you take concentrated onion supplements, or you're also on an actual blood thinner, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist. Don't change anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Minocycline page
“This is one of the longer interaction lists I review, and with minocycline it earns real care rather than a shrug. Most entries pair this tetracycline antibiotic, taken for acne and other infections, with supplements that raise bleeding risk, and a second sizable group, beer and wine included, can add strain on the liver.”

About Onion
What is Onion?
- Colds and respiratory symptoms
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial and wound care
- Scar appearance (topical gels)
Onion is a common food with a long history in traditional medicine, and it contains antioxidants like quercetin and sulfur compounds. Eating onion as part of a balanced diet is safe for most people, but high-dose supplements have only limited human evidence for any specific health condition. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated onion products for a medical reason.
About Minocycline
What Is Minocycline Used For?
Brand names: Vectrin, Dynacin, Minocin, Minocin IV, Solodyn, Acnamino MR, Minocin MR, Sebomin MR, Aknemin, Arestin Miscrosperes, Amzeeq, Zilxi
Minocycline is mainly used for infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Oral capsules and tablets, and Minocin intravenous (IV), are labeled for many infections. These include rickettsial infections such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Mycoplasma pneumoniae respiratory infections, chlamydia-related infections, plague, tularemia, cholera and brucellosis (with streptomycin). Some gram-negative bacterial infections are included when lab testing shows the bacteria respond.
Other minocycline products are not for infections at all. Extended-release tablets (including Minolira) treat inflammatory acne lesions in patients 12 and older. Amzeeq foam treats inflammatory acne in patients 9 and older. Zilxi foam and Emrosi capsules treat inflammatory rosacea lesions in adults. Arestin is placed in gum pockets by a dental professional for adult periodontitis.
