Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CAFFEINE
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Codeine, Salicylamide
Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Codeine, Salicylamide falls under CAFFEINE — the group Pagoda Tree interacts with.
Pagoda tree contains genistein. Taking genistein 1 gram daily for 14 days seems to inhibit caffeine clearance and metabolism in healthy females. This effect has been attributed to inhibition of the cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) enzyme, which is involved in caffeine metabolism. It is unclear if this effect occurs with the lower amounts of genistein found in pagoda tree.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the part that matters for this combo: your medicine contains caffeine, and your body clears caffeine mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. Pagoda Tree contains genistein, which in lab thinking may slow that enzyme down. If caffeine is cleared more slowly, it can linger and build up, so you might feel more of the caffeine side effects, things like jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge.
I want to be honest about how solid this is, though. This is a theoretical concern based on how the chemicals behave, and the studies used concentrated genistein, far more than what's in a typical Pagoda Tree supplement. So real-world impact may be small or none. If you do notice you're feeling extra wired, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
