Here's the gist with ketoprofen and palm oil. Ketoprofen is an NSAID that, besides easing pain and swelling, also makes your platelets a little less sticky, which is part of its mild blood-thinning side. The concern on file is that a component of palm oil (palm olein) may nudge platelets toward clumping together more, which could work against that blood-thinning effect.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical and based on limited evidence, and normal cooking amounts of palm oil in food are unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated palm-oil supplements are a different story. If you take ketoprofen for a clotting-related reason or have heart concerns, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding palm-oil capsules.

Palm oil is a widely used edible oil pressed from the fruit of the oil palm tree, and red palm oil is a notable source of vitamin A and vitamin E compounds called tocotrienols. As a food it is generally considered safe, but it is high in saturated fat, so it should be used in moderation as part of a balanced diet. What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
