Here's the short version for Ventavis (iloprost): besides relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs, iloprost also makes your platelets a little less sticky, which is part of its job in pulmonary hypertension. The concern on file is that a component of palm oil (palm olein) may nudge platelets toward clumping together more, which could work against that mild blood-thinning effect.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's largely theoretical, and the amount of palm oil in normal cooking is unlikely to throw off your treatment. Concentrated palm-oil supplements are a different story. Don't change anything on your own, but do mention any supplement to your doctor or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

Palm oil is a widely used edible oil pressed from the fruit of the oil palm tree, and red palm oil is a notable source of vitamin A and vitamin E compounds called tocotrienols.
