Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Warfarin
Warfarin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Palm Oil interacts with.
The palm olein constituent in palm oil seems to increase platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with warfarin: warfarin works by thinning your blood and keeping clots from forming. The concern on file is that a fat in palm oil (palm olein) may nudge your blood toward clotting more easily, which could work against what warfarin is trying to do. In theory that might make warfarin a little less effective, raising the risk of a clot.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's largely theoretical, and warfarin is a sensitive drug whose dose is fine-tuned by your INR blood test. The small amounts of palm oil used in cooking are very unlikely to throw things off. If you're thinking about a concentrated palm-oil supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on your INR.

About Palm Oil
What is Palm Oil?
- Cooking and food preparation
- Source of vitamin A (red palm oil)
- Vitamin E (tocotrienols)
- Skin and hair care
- General nutrition
Palm oil is a widely used edible oil pressed from the fruit of the oil palm tree, and red palm oil is a notable source of vitamin A and vitamin E compounds called tocotrienols. As a food it is generally considered safe, but it is high in saturated fat, so it should be used in moderation as part of a balanced diet. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated palm-oil supplements, especially if you have heart or cholesterol concerns.
About Warfarin
What Is Warfarin Used For?
Brand name: Warfarin
Warfarin sodium tablets and Jantoven tablets are both used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis (blood clots in the veins) and pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs). They are also used to prevent clot-related complications in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) or who have had a heart valve replaced.
In people who have had a heart attack, warfarin is used to reduce the risk of death, another heart attack, stroke, or other clotting events. It does not dissolve an existing clot, but it helps prevent the clot from growing and stops new dangerous clots from forming.
