Capmatinib Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Peony interacts with.

Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your cancer medicine, capmatinib (Tabrecta). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this drug out of your body. Peony root, in lab dishes at least, may slow that enzyme down a little. If it does the same thing in people, capmatinib could build up to higher levels than expected, which can mean more of its usual side effects like nausea, swelling in your arms or legs, tiredness, or changes in your liver tests.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is: this comes only from test-tube and animal studies, and it has never actually been shown in people. Still, because capmatinib is a serious medicine, please loop in your oncology team or pharmacist before adding any peony product. Don't change anything on your own.

Tabrecta (capmatinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — lung cancer that has spread — whose tumors carry a specific genetic change called a MET exon 14 skipping mutation. A patient must test positive for this mutation using an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.

This is a targeted therapy, meaning it works against tumors with this particular genetic driver rather than all lung cancers.
