Rimegepant falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Peony interacts with.

Theoretically, use of peony may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that peony suppresses the metabolism of clozapine via weak-to-moderate inhibitory effects on CYP1A2 and CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear rimegepant (Nurtec ODT) out of your system. Peony root has been shown, in test-tube studies only, to weakly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a person, it could let rimegepant build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean stronger effects or a higher chance of side effects like nausea or stomach upset.

Here's the reassuring part: this concern comes only from lab research, not from real people, so it's quite theoretical. Rimegepant is not a prodrug, so it needs no activation. Still, since both are processed the same way, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially with concentrated peony supplements rather than small food amounts.
