Abrocitinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Peppermint interacts with.

Theoretically, peppermint might increase the levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research shows that peppermint oil inhibits CYP2C19. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2C19 to help clear abrocitinib (Cibinqo). Lab studies suggest peppermint oil can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, abrocitinib could build up a bit and its effects (and side effects) might be stronger. With a JAK inhibitor like this, that could mean things like more nausea, headaches, acne-like breakouts, or a higher chance of infections.

Now the reassuring part: this is theoretical. It has only been seen in test-tube research, never reported in real patients, and occasional culinary peppermint or a cup of tea is unlikely to matter. If you regularly use concentrated peppermint oil capsules, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on you.

Here's the basic idea with Cibinqo (abrocitinib) and peppermint. Your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP2C9 to break down abrocitinib. In lab (test tube) studies, peppermint oil appears to slow that enzyme down. If that same effect happened in people, it could mean a little more abrocitinib hanging around in your system, which in theory might bump up its effects and side effects, things like nausea, headache, or a higher risk of infections since this medicine quiets the immune system.

The honest part: this is theoretical. It has never actually been reported in real patients, and food amounts of peppermint (like tea or a mint) are very unlikely to matter. If you regularly use concentrated peppermint oil capsules, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Abrocitinib Used For?

Brand name: Cibinqo

Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is approved to treat adults and children aged 12 and older who have moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) that has not been adequately controlled with other systemic treatments, including biologics — or when those treatments are not appropriate.

Cibinqo is specifically for refractory cases, meaning it is intended for people whose eczema has not responded well enough to other options. It is not recommended to be used alongside other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants.
