Here's the thing about pairing these two: clonazepam (Klonopin) is a benzodiazepine that calms the brain by boosting GABA activity, and phenibut works on those same GABA pathways. So you're essentially pressing the brain's brake pedal twice. Stacking them can pile on the sedation, leaving you very drowsy, foggy, unsteady on your feet, or slow to react. The bigger worry is slowed, shallow breathing (respiratory depression), which becomes more likely at higher phenibut doses.

I'll be honest, this concern is based on how these substances behave plus a handful of case reports, not large studies. But the direction is clear and the stakes are real. Phenibut isn't an approved supplement here, and I wouldn't recommend it. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything with clonazepam.

What Is Clonazepam Used For?

Brand names: Klonopin, Rivotril, Ceberclon

Clonazepam is approved to treat several types of seizures — including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a severe form of epilepsy), akinetic seizures (sudden loss of muscle tone), myoclonic seizures (sudden muscle jerks), and absence seizures (brief lapses of awareness) in patients who haven't responded to other medicines.

It is also approved for panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that might cause panic). Panic disorder involves repeated, unexpected panic attacks along with ongoing worry about having more attacks.
