LEVODOPA

Carbidopa, Levodopa, Entacapone falls under LEVODOPA — the group Phenylalanine interacts with.
Phenylalanine competes with levodopa for carrier-mediated transport into the brain. The resulting reduction in levels of levodopa in the brain can exacerbate tremor, rigidity, and the "on-off" phenomenon in patients with Parkinson disease.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the key thing to know about Stalevo: the levodopa part is the workhorse, but it has to hitch a ride into your brain on the same transporter that carries certain amino acids, including phenylalanine. When you take a concentrated dose of phenylalanine, it competes for those same spots, so less levodopa actually reaches your brain where it's needed.
For someone with Parkinson's, that can mean your medicine just doesn't work as well. You might notice more tremor, stiffness, slowness, or stronger swings in your "on-off" periods. This is a real, studied interaction, so I'd steer clear of high-dose phenylalanine supplements. Normal protein in food is a different conversation, but please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding any amino acid supplement.
