Bleomycin falls under ANTITUMOR ANTIBIOTICS — the group Rose Hip interacts with.

Theoretically, the antioxidant effects of rose hip might reduce the effectiveness of antitumor antibiotics.
Rose hip contains the antioxidant vitamin C. There is concern that antioxidants might reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals, such as antitumor antibiotics. In contrast, other researchers theorize that antioxidants might make antitumor antibiotic chemotherapy more effective by reducing oxidative stress that could interfere with apoptosis (cell death) of cancer cells. More evidence is needed to determine what effects, if any, antioxidants such as vitamin C have on antitumor antibiotic chemotherapy.

Here's the thinking behind this one. Bleomycin fights cancer in part by creating free radicals, those unstable molecules that damage and kill tumor cells. Rose hip is loaded with antioxidants like vitamin C, which by definition mop up free radicals. So on paper, there's a worry that the antioxidants in a concentrated rose hip supplement could blunt how well bleomycin works against the cancer.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical. It comes from how these compounds behave in the lab, not from solid studies in people, and some researchers actually argue antioxidants might help. Because the stakes with chemo are high, please loop in your oncology team before taking rose hip as a supplement. The small amounts found in foods or teas are far less likely to matter than concentrated capsules.

Rose hip is the vitamin C–rich fruit of the wild rose, used traditionally for colds and joint pain. A standardized rose hip powder has some research support for easing osteoarthritis symptoms, but evidence for most other uses is limited. It is generally well tolerated as a food, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it as a supplement.

About Bleomycin

What Is Bleomycin Used For?

Brand name: Blenoxane

Bleomycin injection is used as a palliative (disease-managing, not curative) treatment for several cancers. It can be used alone or combined with other chemotherapy drugs to treat squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (including the mouth, tongue, tonsil, larynx, and other sites), as well as squamous cell carcinomas of the penis, cervix, and vulva. It also treats Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and testicular carcinoma (including embryonal cell, choriocarcinoma, and teratocarcinoma subtypes).

When given as an intrapleural injection (directly into the chest cavity), Bleomycin acts as a sclerosing agent — it seals off the space around the lungs to treat malignant pleural effusion and help prevent fluid from coming back.
