Acerola + Bleomycin
Bleomycin brand name: Blenoxane.
Acerola has a moderate interaction with Bleomycin. Theoretically, the antioxidant effects of acerola might reduce the effectiveness of antitumor antibiotics.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTITUMOR ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Bleomycin
Bleomycin falls under ANTITUMOR ANTIBIOTICS — the group Acerola interacts with.
Acerola contains vitamin C, an antioxidant. There is concern that antioxidants might reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals, such as antitumor antibiotics. In contrast, other researchers theorize that antioxidants might make antitumor antibiotic chemotherapy more effective by reducing oxidative stress that could interfere with apoptosis (cell death) of cancer cells. More evidence is needed to determine what effects, if any, antioxidants such as vitamin C have on antitumor antibiotic chemotherapy.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thinking behind this one. Bleomycin is a chemotherapy drug that partly works by creating free radicals, unstable molecules that damage and kill cancer cells. Acerola is loaded with vitamin C, which is an antioxidant, meaning it mops up free radicals. So on paper, there's a worry that taking concentrated vitamin C could blunt how well bleomycin does its job. I want to be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these things behave in the lab, not proven in real patients. Some researchers even think antioxidants might help. We simply don't have solid human studies either way.
Because we just don't know, and because bleomycin is serious treatment, please don't add an acerola supplement without first checking with your oncologist or pharmacist. Food amounts of the fruit are far less of a concern than high-dose pills.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.

About Acerola
What is Acerola?
- Vitamin C source
- Immune support
- Antioxidant support
- General wellness
- Skin health
Acerola is a small tropical fruit prized for its very high natural vitamin C content, and it is mostly used as a food-based source of vitamin C and antioxidants. While vitamin C itself has well-known roles in the body, strong human studies showing that acerola specifically treats or prevents disease are limited. It is generally considered safe in food amounts, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Bleomycin
What Is Bleomycin Used For?
Brand name: Blenoxane
Bleomycin injection is used as a palliative (disease-managing, not curative) treatment for several cancers. It can be used alone or combined with other chemotherapy drugs to treat squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (including the mouth, tongue, tonsil, larynx, and other sites), as well as squamous cell carcinomas of the penis, cervix, and vulva. It also treats Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and testicular carcinoma (including embryonal cell, choriocarcinoma, and teratocarcinoma subtypes).
When given as an intrapleural injection (directly into the chest cavity), Bleomycin acts as a sclerosing agent — it seals off the space around the lungs to treat malignant pleural effusion and help prevent fluid from coming back.
