ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Prabotulinumtoxina-Xvfs
Prabotulinumtoxina-Xvfs falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Sage interacts with.
In vitro evidence suggests that common sage (Salvia officinalis) and Spanish sage (Salvia lavandulaefolia) can inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA): this product works by quieting the nerve signals that tell certain muscles to contract, which is what smooths those frown lines. The theory on file is that sage may raise levels of a nerve chemical called acetylcholine, and in lab dishes it blocks the enzyme that breaks that chemical down. In plain terms, sage could nudge things in the opposite direction of what Jeuveau is trying to do, which might mean your results don't last as long or look quite as smooth.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's based only on test-tube research, not on people, so it's very theoretical. A sprinkle of sage in your cooking is unlikely to matter at all. If you're taking concentrated sage extracts or oil, just mention it to whoever does your injections so they're in the loop.

About Sage
What is Sage?
- Sore throat and mouth irritation
- Digestive upset
- Excessive sweating
- Memory and thinking
- Menopause symptoms (hot flashes)
- General antioxidant support
Sage is a common kitchen herb that is generally safe in food amounts and is traditionally used for sore throats, digestion, sweating, and memory. Some early research is encouraging for sore throat and menopausal hot flashes, but most uses are not well proven. Concentrated extracts and the essential oil should be used carefully because high doses contain a compound called thujone, which can be harmful.
