Here's the thing to keep in mind: anagrelide already lowers your platelet count and also has some mild effect on slowing platelets from clumping together. Sea buckthorn, when taken as a concentrated supplement, may do something similar (early research suggests it can make platelets less sticky). Stack the two and you could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher.

What might that look like in real life? Easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop. This is mostly theoretical and based on limited research, so I don't want to alarm you. Eating sea buckthorn berries as a food is unlikely to be a problem. Before starting a concentrated supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
