Due to its iodine content, sea moss might alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.
Sea moss contains approximately 4-7 mcg of iodine per gram. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking sea moss could theoretically alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.

Here's the thing about carbimazole: its job is to dial down an overactive thyroid by slowing how much thyroid hormone you make. Sea moss naturally carries iodine, and iodine is the raw material your thyroid uses to build that hormone. So adding a concentrated iodine source can work against what carbimazole is trying to do, potentially making it harder to get your thyroid numbers under control.

I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on how iodine behaves, not on solid studies. Still, since you're being treated for a thyroid problem, I'd play it safe. Iodine can be unpredictable, sometimes worsening overactivity and sometimes the opposite. Watch for racing heart, jitteriness, or unusual fatigue, and check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting sea moss.
