Sea moss contains approximately 4-7 mcg of iodine per gram. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking sea moss could theoretically alter the effects of thyroid hormone.

Here's something worth clearing up. The interaction in our database is really about thyroid hormone medications (like levothyroxine), where the iodine in sea moss could nudge thyroid levels up or down. HCG (Pregnyl) is a completely different kind of medicine. It's a hormone given as an injection to support fertility, trigger ovulation, or stimulate testosterone production. It isn't a thyroid drug, and the iodine in sea moss doesn't have a known, direct effect on how HCG works.

So for HCG specifically, I wouldn't expect a meaningful interaction with sea moss. The bigger picture is that sea moss has variable, sometimes high iodine, which can affect your thyroid on its own. Since you're already on a hormone treatment, please run sea moss by your doctor or pharmacist first, especially if you have any thyroid history.
