Triavil combines two medicines: amitriptyline (an older antidepressant) and perphenazine (an antipsychotic). Both are taken by mouth and need to be absorbed through your gut to work. The concern with slippery elm is its sticky, gel-like mucilage. In theory, that gel can form a coating in your digestive tract that slightly slows or blocks how much of the pill gets absorbed, which could leave a little less medicine in your system.

To be honest, this is a theoretical worry based on how the fiber behaves, not on real studies with this drug, so it may not amount to much. If your symptoms (mood, sleep, or anxiety) seem to slip, that's worth noting. A simple fix is spacing them a few hours apart. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
