Theoretically, Syrian rue might decrease the effects of anticholinergic drugs.
Syrian rue contains harmine. Animal research suggests that intravenous administration of harmine potentiates the effects of acetylcholine or increases acetylcholine levels.

Here's the basic idea. Propantheline works by blocking acetylcholine, a chemical messenger in your gut, which is how it slows things down and cuts stomach acid. Syrian Rue seems to push in the opposite direction, since lab and animal studies suggest its harmala alkaloids can raise acetylcholine activity. So in theory, the supplement could partly cancel out what propantheline is trying to do.

If that happened, you might notice the medication working less well, meaning more stomach cramping or acid symptoms creeping back. To be fair, this is only a theoretical concern based on animal data, not proven in people. Still, given Syrian Rue's real toxicity risks, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
