Nifedipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Tribulus interacts with.

Theoretically, taking tribulus with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that tribulus can lower blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Tribulus has also demonstrated hypotensive effects in pre-hypertensive adults.

Here's the gist: nifedipine already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Tribulus may nudge blood pressure down too. In animal studies it seemed to block ACE (a blood-pressure enzyme), and in one small group of pre-hypertensive people it had a mild lowering effect. So if you stack the two, the worry is that your pressure could dip a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or get a headache, especially when standing up quickly. Honestly though, this is mostly theory, the human evidence is thin, and many people would notice nothing. Still, since both push the same direction, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding tribulus, and keep an eye on your numbers if you do.

What Is Nifedipine Used For?

Brand names: Procardia XL, Adalat PA, Adalat, Nifedin, Nifed PA, Nifed, Procardia, Adalat XL, Adalat CC, Adalat LA, Adalat Retard, Adipine MR, Adipine XL, Cardilate MR, Coracten SR, Coracten XL, Fortipine LA 40, Hypolar Retard 20, Nifedipress MR, Nifopress Retard, Tensipine MR

Nifedipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension), chronic stable angina (chest pain brought on by physical effort), and vasospastic angina (chest pain caused by spasm of the coronary arteries, sometimes called Prinzmetal's angina). Lowering blood pressure with nifedipine helps reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

The capsule form is approved for vasospastic angina and chronic stable angina only — it is not approved for high blood pressure. The extended-release tablet (including Procardia) covers all three uses: vasospastic angina, chronic stable angina, and high blood pressure.
